Beraca Foundation - Romania
Ruben and Karen Popet started Beraca Foundation in the beginning of 2000. They were given some land in Ruben’s hometown, Jdioara, Romania, where they built an orphanage to be a home for 20 children. Along with the orphanage, the Popets opened a free medical clinic, started a small farm and gave English lessons to people in Jdioara. Plus, they were part of the planting of a non-denominational church in the nearby town of Lugoj. The Jacksonville Community Food Center is a non-profit organization serving Morgan County and other area residents during an emergency or financial crisis. The Food Center was established in 1981 and currently provides food to 400 families a month. Clientele are offered a seven-day supply of food. Bakery items and fresh vegetables (donated by local gardeners and grocery stores) are offered as available. The food bank is a valuable resource to our community during these hard economic times. Philippines Mission
Support for the Philippines mission would be support for the work that God is doing through Pastor Mervin Danuco Mahinay. Pastor Mervin is the cousin of our own Lanie Davis. Pastor Mervin and his wife have planted Seven churches in the hard to reach areas in the mountains near Davao City.
Pastor Mervin accomplishes this work with volunteers and little to no financial support. In addition to church planting Pastor Mervin preaches at those churches (reachable by motorcycle only) as well as through a radio broadcast ministry.
